If you are looking for a site that provides readable, reliable information on writing, reading and literature, English Works! is one that you should not miss.

This site describes in detail the process of writing (prewriting, writing the first draft, revising and proofreading), the structure of an essay, the different types of essay (argumentative essays, comparison/contrast essays, definition essays, descriptive essays, narrative essays, cause-effect essays, process essays and critical essays), how to write research papers, letters (including business correspondence), journalism and dissertations.

The literature section of the site focuses on such topics as fiction, poetry and drama.

Those interested in ESL reading can find valuable reading and mapping strategies, types of reading questions and tests along with reading selections and exercises.

The site also has separate sections on grammar, vocabulary and tutoring techniques (including those for the writing tutor and the tutor working with disabled students).
