The Michigan Corpus of Academic Spoken English (MICASE) is a unique database of contemporary English as it is spoken in academic settings. The corpus can be used by teachers, researchers, and all those interested in EAP (English for Academic Purposes).
Features:
• 200 hours (1.8 million words) of academic speech, representing the faculty, staff, and students, both native and non-native, from across the University of Michigan
• 152 transcripts, which can be browsed or searched using a number of criteria
• Approximately 70 streaming sound files, categorized by speech event type
• Research information and ESL/EAP teaching materials related to the corpus
