A Cockney Rhyming Slang Dictionary

Posted on Tuesday, July 22, 2008

A Cockney Rhyming Slang Dictionary by Jeremy Alderton defines hundreds of cockney rhyming slang expressions, the colorful everyday language spoken by natives of London. A typical cockney rhyming slang expression consists of two words, with the second word rhyming with a normal word in English, and the first word will be used to indicate it, such as nanny in nanny goat for boat.

• English-to-Slang page, with normal English words translated into rhyming slang expressions, all illustrated with full example sentences

• Questions page, which contains readers' questions and, where possible, answers about the meanings and origins of obscure slang expressions

• Money slang page for slang terms related to money
