English Phonetic Activities

Posted on Tuesday, August 05, 2008

English Phonetic Activities is an English pronunciation website created by professor Pedro Felipe de la Iglesia Diéguez. Since it is intended for Spanish-speaking students, the interface is mostly in Spanish. However, students who do not speak Spanish can still benefit from the site by trying the numerous exercises it offers.

Features:

• Theory section, which contains descriptions of English sounds (vowels, diphthongs, consonants) and corresponding example words

• Word bank, with large collections of words categorized by pronunciation and spelling

• Two levels of interactive exercises (easy and difficult) testing students' knowledge of pronunciation and phonetic transcription

• Word games for extra practice in vocabulary and listening
