Poets.org is one of the best websites about poetry on the Internet. It was created in 1996 by the Academy of American Poets - a nonprofit organization - and provides an excellent collection of poetry resources, including poems, poet biographies, essays, interviews, and recordings.

Features:

  • Database of more than 500 poet biographies, 2,500 poems, and 400 pieces of prose, which can be browsed alphabetically or searched by keyword, title, author's name, movement, theme, or form
  • Audio and video clips featuring poetry readings, lectures, and symposia (transcripts available for most recordings)
  • Poetry map and events calendar, designed to inform users of literary events and resources in all states of the US
  • Tools and materials for teaching poetry, with discussion forums, lesson plans, essays, teaching tips, and links to further online resources
